In this quest of mine, I met Randy Lindsay. Ok meet is a far stretched word :P but it was a very pleasant 20 minutes. His book, ‘Call to Arms’ was being launched and he was at Barnes and Noble to promote it. His vision was very clear about his novel. My review is coming out soon. In the meantime sharing our chat with you all.
As to what steps I’ve taken to reach the right audience, I pick bookstores where my demographic is most likely to shop. Even though I don’t consider Call to Arms an LDS book, it does appeal to the LDS community. I spend more time arranging public appearances in areas where there is a higher concentration of LDS readers. I’m currently shopping a middle-grade fantasy novel to the publishers. When that comes out I will focus on school visits and Comic con appearances because that is where my readership will be.
Before my books are released I do as much as I can to get the word out about them. Press releases, social media announcements, the arrangements for public appearances, and blog tours. These all must be setup weeks ahead of the book’s release.
